A Christian is someone who prays the following prayer:
"I am a sinner. I believe that you died on the cross, received God's punishment, and were resurrected in order to forgive my sins."
In other words
The Cross of Jesus Christ + Prayer of Faith = Christian
The Cross of Jesus Christ + Faith = Christian
Good deeds + religious events ≠ Christian
Clean and upright living + church events ≠ Christian
Bible + Western Customs ≠ Christian
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
...So what does that mean?
God loves you so much that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in your place to forgive your sins.
・・・God's love means that He wants to completely free you from the guilt, inferiority, hatred, and fear of death that come from the sin nature that holds your soul and personality in bondage.
This is so that you who believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior can receive eternal life and go to heaven without being subject to eternal judgment.
This is the central message of the Bible: John 3:16
For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
